Florida Gators Defeat Ohio State 41-14

Senior quarterback Chris Leak (Charlotte, N.C.) threw for a touchdown and senior running back DeShawn Wynn (Cincinnati, Ohio) ran for another score to lead the second-ranked University of Florida football team to a 41-14 victory over Ohio State in the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game, earning the Gators their second-ever national football championship. With the win, Florida became the first school in NCAA Division I history to win capture national titles in football and men’s basketball during the same calendar year, having earned its first title on the hardcourt by defeating UCLA in April.

Senior forward Marshae Dotson (Columbus, Ohio) scored a game-high 16 points and Florida posted its largest win since Dec. 28, 2006 in a 82-46 victory against Stetson on Thursday in the Stephen C. O'Connell Center.

UF Baseball Announces 2008 Early Signing Class
Nine pitchers and seven position players highlight the 2008-09 recruiting class for the University of Florida baseball program. Head coach Kevin O'Sullivan announced Wednesday that 16 student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent and will play baseball for the Gators beginning in the 2010 season.
